Why Christian Marriage Counselling is Superior than Secular Counselling
Marriage as we all know is something truly special as it is a thing that we all know was instituted by God. The definition of marriage is when a man and a woman decide to be one and pledge to love and stay faithful to each other till death. When a marriage is done in a church, they pledge to love each other as well as stay faithful to their partners for life. These vows and pledges are what make a marriage special. It can at times become unfortunate when people start staying together and they drift apart thus making the marriage shaky. If such a thing happens, there is need to seek counselling so as to save the marriage as well as keep the vows they made to each other. This article highlights several reasons why seeking Christian marriage counselling is better than seeking secular counselling.
The main and first reason as to why Christian marriage counselling is more better is simply because during the wedding, the couple exchanged their vows before God and these vows are meant to be abiding. Therefore, for a marriage that is collapsing, it is important for the couple to seek Christian counselling so as to identify the problems that are causing the marriage to fall apart. Since in a Christian marriage its only death or adultery that can set the two apart, it is better to seek Christian counselling than going for secular counselling.
The second reason why Christian marriage counselling is better than secular counselling is because it is possible to save a marriage through prayers. It is possible for a couple and their counsellor to go before God and seek His will on how to save the marriage. Those involved can decide to go away for a retreat, away from other people and have time to pray together for the marriage. If for instance one of those in the marriage has an outside affair, they can decide to get counsel by being in a place where it’s only the two of them looking for a way to bring back the flame.
Another reason why secular counselling is not as good as Christian marriage counselling is because secular counselling entails paying for the service unlike in Christian marriage counselling where couples do not have to pay. This is due to the fact that it is more of a business in secular counselling as compared to Christian marriage counselling. Therefore, it is wise for couples to seek Christian marriage counselling so as to ease the burden of having to pay for the service.
It is therefore advisable that couples who find their marriage falling apart can seek the services of a Christian marriage counsellor than a secular one as there are more advantages. That way, it becomes possible for a counsellor to save a marriage as early as possible.
